Number 1. Performance upgradesOf course, as expected we will see the new Snapdragon 865 in the Sony Xperia 1 ii which is 5G by default. Which makes this the Xperia 1 mark 2 the worlds 1st 21:9 in 5G handset. The SD865 is faster in all departments. Notably a 25% uplift to its CPU performance & Inside we will see 8GB Ram and 256GB of storage. While this 5G there is also an Xperia 1 mk 2 pro variant which will allow for mmW which won't be coming to the EU just yet... Number 2. Battery ImprovementsSo, of course, Sony heard the complaints about the fairly small 3300mAh battery and have now scaled it up to 4000mAh. Which is certainly quite an improvement. And they've also introduced faster charging with 30mins charging the phone to 50% and they've reintroduced QI wireless charging at 15 watts...how about that. Clip Number 3. Camera UpgradesSo Sony is not playing the MP number game & is sticking with the triple 12mp layout with an added 3D time of flight sensor. The real core of Sonys upgrades here is the addition of Zeiss lenses and when it comes to taking photos you know what you are expected to do right? Focus. We should see autofocus and focus tracking performance should be significantly improved. Thanks to the collaboration of Sony's Alpha team. They say the focus tracking covers 70% of the sensor & the Xperia 1 mk2 is has the WORLDS 1ST 20fps AF/AE tracking burst feature. This is something the Alpha team brought over from the Sony Alpha A9 camera. They've also added in animal eye autofocus. And now Sony will be using a Dual photodiode sensor. 50% higher sensitivity for lower light. Which means better night photography & I'm certainly going to be testing out. Subscribe. There are also improvements to the frame rate options in the cinema pro app and the option to set a custom white balance. One brand new addition also added is the photo pro app that mimics Sony's Alpha camera setting on the Xperia 1 mk2. Number 4. Display upgradesSo we still again we will see a 6.5" 4K HDR OLED display. But this time Sony has introduced a new more advanced custom white balanced tuner. So basically you get your screen picture perfect for what you want to use it for. It's a welcomed addition. But it's also now has a 90Hz refresh rate screen with a new motion blur reduction software. The Xperia 1 was already pretty smooth...Xperia 1 mark 2 is going to be a bit smoother. 5. The Return of the JackSo the word on the street about the headphone jack coming back turned out to be true. Which is great news for you audiophiles out there. While LDAC, Aptx HD & Aptx Adaptive are really great codecs, the wire is still the most reliable way to listen to HiRes audio. That’s why I’m happy to see the jack is back. Especially when gaming or watch movies latency issues can ruin the experience, but this won’t be a problem with the Sony Xperia 1 mark 2. More WhatGear Sony Xperia Videos

nextbase 422gw dash cam - current price
DesignThis years Nextbase 422GW Dash cam has same black & brushed metal finish as last years 412. There’s a nice bit of subtle branding with F1.4 aperture markings around the lens. Nextbase has made a concerted effort to make the overall size of the 422GW Dash cam 35% smaller than its 2018 predecessor. Which is always a good thing. The mounting bracket design has also been improved. When the is mounted it doesn't hang down as far 412 did. Freeing up more important windscreen space. A couple more upgrades to the Nextbase car mount is that it now houses the power port & a powerful magnetic connector for the Dash cam to click on to. This means you can simply pull the Dash cam away from the windscreen mount without having to mess around with cables or even removing the suction mount altogether. When it comes to the ports onboard the actual dash cam unit itself. There's a Micro USB B port designed to use when connecting the Dash cam to your PC. With that said it can be used to power the battery up, which I did when I set it up. There is also an additional port placed on the side of the Dash cam for rear camera attachments. That's actually 3 different options of the rear cameras. A cabin camera, a rear window camera & a telephoto camera which mounts on the Dash cam and looks over your shoulder. (That's the one I've been testing) The only other port onboard is a Micro SD card slot. When it comes to physical buttons. There are just three. One power button. A reset button for wiping the device & one very important button to manually protect recordings. For example, you might want to use this when someone cuts you up in traffic or when you see something funny whilst driving. If you don't use this button, due to the loop recording feature your old footage will be overwritten & I'm told the Nextbase 422GW will do this automatically if you're involved in a collision...As much as I enjoy doing these reviews for you guys. I'm not going to crash my car to test this out. The most exciting thing about the design of the Nextbase 422GW is its 2.5" IPS HD touch screen display. Which brings me nicely onto the Usability. UsabilityWhen it comes to the new Nextbase range. They all support the MyNextbase app. Which is super easy to set up. One tip here...I advise you to download the Alexa app and create an account in advance. There is a new SOS feature present on the 422gw and you will be prompted to set up a 1year free trail. Which I'll get into in the awesome features section later in the video. The trickiest part by far when it comes to the installation is running the power cable. As standard with the kit is a 12watt cigarette lighter power cable and an interior prying tool. The difficulty may vary depending on the make and model of the car. My best advice is to give it a go yourself. If you make a mess of it. It's around £20 for the direct power cable at Halfords, and you can pay them a couple of quid to fit it professionally for you. Once set up and positioned correctly. It's a case of choosing the best video resolution settings for you and you're ready to roll out. Within the onscreen settings, you want to customize the Dash cam a bit more. You adjust the (gyroscope) G sensor which affects the Intelligent parking mode. There's the option to adjust what is shown on top of the footage. For example the time, location and speed you're traveling at. There is also a dual record-setting called auto-sync. Going back to the MyNextbase app now. When driving your footage if you enable the dual record feature the 422gw will be store footage locally on the Micro SD card & also a lower res file will be transferred to your device. There is also a desktop version of the MyNextbase app available. Which is very useful for stitching your footage together & diving into a bit more depth. Video Quality SamplesAwesome featuresSo one of the most awesome new features is the addition of Alexa's support. Now one thing I need to make very clear is that Alexa requires a connection to your phone and your phone's data to work. Essentially your smartphone does most of the heavy lifting here. With that said the integrated mics on the front of Nextbase 422GW really assist with the Alexa functionality. There are several voice-commands you cam use specific to the Dash cam. Like 'Alexa protect that recording' or 'Alexa brighten the contrast'. There are tons more available...and if you have more Alexa products at home you can talk to your dash cam to control them. The new MyNextbase SOS feature is actually a monthly premium service. However Nextbase are nice enough give you it for free for the first year. In event of an accident & you become unconscious the Nextbase 422gw will automatically send your vehicle details & location to emergency services. Within the MyNextbase mobile app you can even enter you medical details for example allergies and blood group to further assist the ambulance service. So that’s pretty awesome. Have you ever left your car parked & then returned to it later to find a new dent of scrape? If the answer is yes, the you will love the Nextbase Intelligent parking mode with G Sensor. When you leave your car unattended the Nextbase 422gw will use it’s reserve battery in case of an impact. It will automatically switch one and record the culprit so you have some evidence to use should this happen to you. It really is an awesome feature, and can potentially save you some money & maybe your no claims bonus. nextbase 422gw dashcam - Learn morevia TECH NEWS & REVIEWS - WhatGear.Net https://www.whatgear.net/technology//nextbase-422gw-dash-cam-review Listen, hear real quick. Today I'm comparing the new Sony WH-910N H.ear On 3 headphones to the Sony WH1000X-M3. I'm going to break it down into 4 sections. Design, usability, sound quality and at the end awesome features. Are you ready...let's go. SONY wh-h910n h.ear on 3 - current priceDesignSo when I first unboxed the new WH-H910N Hear On 3 headphones I thought they looked smaller and felt lighter than the 1000X M3. After further inspection, I discovered the truth. Which is there's not that much difference in size & weight. I put both sets headphones on a scale and there both around 220 grams. The XM3 maybe a couple of points over. But anyway... Let's get the obvious differences out of the way first. The 1000X M3 are available in two colours matt black & a gold tan & the Hear on 3 come in 5 different colours with each one having different patterns on the padding. Some style points for the Hear on 3's Also, the finish on the Hear on 3 is this kind of textured matt, where the 1000XM3 is kind of smooth & much more prone to fingerprints. The way the fold down the same making them compact, However you get a much more premium hard case with the XM3's and just a canvas draw bag with the H.ear on 3. Something I like about the Sony Hear on 3 is the provided analog cable which matches colour of the headset. That's not to say the XM3s don’t...but just colour...nice. Button and port placements are almost identical, with the only difference being the location of the USB C port. The H.ear on 3 has it all in 1 place and the XM3s are on the opposite side. The Sony Branding locations are also different but quite subtle on both. Of course, the flagship 1000X M3 having a little more bling with the rose gold trim and branding on the band. The outer NC mics are in the same spot on the backs of the ear-cups. But the forward and back NC mics are slightly closer together on the Hear on 3's just behind the hanger. The location of the voice call might appears to be in a better spot on the Hear on 3...a little be closer than the XM3. We'll test that out un a min. The Hinges and the Headband with reinforced plastic are pretty much the same. However, there is a big difference. it's the drivers. The Hear on 3 has 25mm drivers and the 1000X M3 has 40mm. This will of course impact the sound quality and sound stage performance. I'll get into that in the sound quality section of the video. Although the Hear on 3 drivers is smaller. Sony has made some tweaks here to help improve the sound delivered by the 25mm drivers. If you look closely at the inside of the WH1000X M3 ear-cups, there's a bit of soft foam padding around the driver. Whereas on the Hear On 3 there's just a fine netting & the drivers will sit much closer to your ear. Sony says the WH-H910n Hear On 3 headphones can achieve the same sound pressure as conventional 40mm drivers. We shall see. (In the sound quality section) Another difference here is the size of padding on the ear-cups. The Hear On 3 has significantly more...which could arguably make them more comfortable for some people. UsabilitySo the number one and most notable difference here is the 35Hr battery life delivered by the Hear On 3. That's 5 Hrs more than the 1000X M3. It’s also worth noting the 1000X M3 can deliver up to 38Hrs with ANC off and the Hear on 3 just 45Hrs. So that's an interesting fact. This is something you should factor that in when making your purchase decision. Touch controls are present on both. Swipe right or left to skip tracks. Up and down for volume. Tap to play pause, double-tap to answer calls and long push to wake your assistant. Lets not forget that placing your palm over the right ear-cup will activate the outer mics and mute your music so you can here what’s going on around you. Sony have improved the placement of the voice call mic. It now sits bit closer to where your mouth would be when wearing them. To see if the Mic quality has improved on the new Sony H.ear on 3 headphones watch the review video for audio samples. When it comes to noise canceling. I've gotta say its virtually identical in my opinion. They both use Sonys class-leading QN1 chip and the same amount of NC mics. Honestly they so close. Both are amazing when it comes to ANC. Of course, the app functionality is the same. One cool thing you can do is customize the C button on the Hear on 3 within the app to wake Alexa, Siri or Google assistant & if your wondering yes you can do the same thing with the 1000XM3 by recapping NC/ambient button. Comfort you'd probably think this would be a win for the Hear On 3 headphones just off if the amount of padding. But for me the clamping pressure is a little stronger...maybe that's because they're newer than my XM3's...but if you asked me I say the XM3 are just a bit more comfortable. If you have quite a small head you might find the headband too large...If you look at them side by side you can see the headband is quite a bit taller. for example, for me I use them. I wear them without extending the headband at all. Both headphones fair with for prolonged usage. Yes, your ears may heat up a little in warm environments.. but neither one considerably more than the other. Sound QualitySo 4 tracks, five different genres. Let's go. Watch the Sony H.ear On Sound Test video to see exactly what tracks I used in this review. Hip Hop - So when it comes to the overall volume. They are very both very close to max volume. The difference I can hear now listening to the H.ear on 3 is there seems to be an emphasis on clarity. In the mids and Hi's. The bass is certainly more powerful on the XM3. Electronic - Again both amazing clarity. For this type of music, the H.ear on 3 performs well. Deep enough bass but not too much it's overpowering the rest of the music. However, I gotta say I feel the soundstage is significantly wider on the XM3's. The bass is more powerful and maybe a bit too powerful...but of course you can tweak that in the Sony Headphones app. Rock - This has to be the closest category so far. Again the soundstage goes to the XM3. However, the H.ear on 3 delivers awesome clarity here. This is a well-suited genre for these. Classical - So this category is all about the clarity of the vocals and soundstage performance of the orchestra. The XM3 wins on a soundstage but the Hear On 3 is impressive here with its fantastic clarity...but overall the XM3 edges out the victory. Awesome FeaturesHear on 3 • awesome colour range & build quality • Above average bass levels despite the smaller drivers. • 10mins 2.5hrs The next 3 apply to both XM3 & Hear on 3 • crazy amount of customisation via the app • 360 reality audio support • Support Hi-Res Audio & LDAC • DSEE HX Audio Up-scaler • class-leading adaptive ANC WH1000X-M3 • Adaptive noise canceling (XM3 barometer) • Immense Bass levels & wider soundstage • current price cheaper than the Hear on 3 SUMMARYSo ultimately it comes down to you... do you want a more striking colourful look. Plus 5Hrs more power when using ANC. If so the Sony H.ear on 3 are perfect pairs for you. Or is 30Hrs battery enough for you & you don't care about the new striking colour and patterns on the ear-cups and care more about the overall sound quality... Then you should go for the 1000 XM3. If you guys liked this review I'd appreciate a thumbs up. Everything from AI, load speed, read and write speeds and efficiency. 9. The new Qualcomm Adreno 650 GPU.The graphics processing unit now delivers 25 percent better performance than last year. And with this 25 percent performance boost, things are going to be even faster. As well as this step up in performance speeds, the Snapdragon 865 will be 35% more energy efficient. 8. The 5th generation Qualcomm AI EngineThis new AI upgrade makes the SD865 two times more powerful than the 855 and it can perform 15 trillion operations per second whilst using very low power. AI relates to a lot of things in a smartphone, but the most obvious one is the Google assistant and Qualcomm have introduced their sensing hub, which allows the device to be constantly listening. Constantly, always on how can even make use of the cameras using really, really minimal power. And this can be useful for loads of things. But anyway, onto the next one. 7. Qualcomm 3D Sonic MaxBiometric security, super important. And it's about to get even more secure with the brand new Qualcomm 3D Sonic Sensor Max, which can now scan two of your fingers instead of one and actually takes up way more space on the screen so you don't have to be in exactly the right spot to unlock your device. And then if you want to step up the security a bit more, you can use the two-finger authentication. So it'd be interesting to see how quick this rolls out into new technology. And also with this new security feature, pretty soon we might see passports and driver's licenses able to be loaded to your device and be used as actual genuine documents. And that's a pretty big game-changer if that ever happens. 6. Qualcomm 2and Gen X55 5G Modem5G is about to get even faster if it wasn't fast enough already. So with the Snapdragon 865 you'll be able to get 7.5 gigabits per second download speeds and it will support frequency bands including millimeter wave, sub six, TDD, FDD, and dynamic spectrum sharing. Just to make it really clear, no matter where you are, if there is 5G, this Snapdragon will make the most of it. 5. 144Hz Display Support with Desktop Forward Rendering. As well as that it has a game colour plus software, which will improve and enhance existing games, which will make them look much, much better. So that's pretty awesome. Number four, the Qualcomm Adreno GPU is the first-ever GPU on a mobile device that has the ability to be updated via the Google play store. So in the past, GPU drivers could only be updated with software updates from Google directly. But now with the Google play store updates being available as of when the GPU needs to be updated. You don't have to upgrade your entire firmware, and that is a pretty big deal. I can't wait to see what kind of impact this has when it comes to gaming on devices. 3. Two Gigapixel Camera SpeedsThe camera on Snapdragon 865 devices will have up to two gigapixels per second speeds. What this means is this much faster at capturing photos and videos and the speed in which it can work. It can film 4K video at the same time as taking 64-megapixel photos. So if you want to capture the perfect photo, you can literally just film it in 4K and then choose the frame that you want instead of just pointing and clicking, which means you'll probably be able to get much better photos. I can't wait to see this in action. What great feature. 2. 8K Video Capture. So 8K TVs are starting to hit the shelves nowadays in a few years probably they will be the norm, but your phone from 2020 should you have a Snapdragon 865 device, will be able to shoot 8K video, which is really, really awesome. I wonder which company will be the first to introduce this onto their smartphone and as well as that 8K capture, you will be able to shoot videos in Dolby Vision, which is better than HDR 10. Basically what it has is lots more metadata attached to the video files that allow it to have better contrast, better detail, and just generally a better video right across the board with.
Number one, for me, is the 200 Megapixel camera sensor support. That is just insane! I can't wait to see how good photos are going to be with a 200 Megapixel camera sensor. I've got an idea of what brand I think going to launch this first, but let me know what you think in the comments below. So that's been my top 10 upgrades on the Snapdragon 865. There is so much more technical information on the Snapdragon 865 but I wanted to keep it really concise for you guys. Just so you know what to expect from the awesome new Qualcomm 865 chipset. I'd appreciate a thumbs up if you enjoyed this one & if you just subscribed, you're now one of the finest subscribers known to man and I'll see you in the next one. Don't be late.
